Visualize. Collaborate. Develop.

The LITE center hosts commercial businesses and researchers who require large scale collaborative environments for research, application development, testing and validation, product development, commercial production and high performance computer modeling powered by the fastest most comprehensive supercomputing and 3D immersive visualization systems and massive data storage capabilities available today. LITE provides a collaborative environment where “what if” thinking can be visualized, explored and implemented.

Client collaboration and development is available onsite and/or remotely. Remote access is accomplished via a number of communication connections. LITE has a 60Gbps direct connection to the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative (LONI) connecting to the National LambdaRail (NLR) with option to connect to StarLight’s Network Access Point (NAP) in Chicago.

LITE is equipped with multiple immersive visualization venues ideal for design team collaboration and group presentations. Venues include:

• One of the world's largest 3D immersive visualization theaters accommodating 175 seats with a curved screen 11' high, 40' wide with approximately 60' radius; appropriate environment for large group presentation/training utilizing immersive presentation display or general multimedia.
• Total Immersive Space (TIS): a six-sided immersive environment provides a sense of presence or immersion into the data by projecting stereoscopic images on the walls, ceiling and floor of a room-sized cube; enables one-on-one data ineraction with small teams through a three dimensional tracking system; excellent for large-scale applications;
• Immersive Flex collaboration room with curved screen, 3-channel all around display, equipped with three-dimensional tracking system enabling fully interactive immersion of data; appropriate for small working groups; and,
• Executive conference room equipped with 2-channel high resolution display, three-dimensional tracking for full interactive immersion of data, videoconferencing, and multimedia.

Immersive collaboration rooms allow multiple users/small working groups the ability to collaborate in real-time with complex datasets. Tracking systems add to the sense of immersion by continuously adjusting the data/image to correspond with the viewing perspective of the lead, or “tracked” user. The data displayed is geometrically accurate and the image clarity enables a multi-user experience. All venues include active stereoscopic glasses for 3D viewing.

Users have maximum flexibility in selecting communication providers. Cox, BellSouth, and the Lafayette Utilities System will provide Internet, WAN, and optical connections to LITE.

LITE is the first facility of its kind to offer a full range of affordable data visualization services to both private and public organizations.
